Around the Dinner Table
Culture, in general, and design in particular is a great way of developing a discourse and communicating ideas and inspirations. The ‘Designers Plus Ten‘ exhibition, presented at the museum during Holon Design Week 2012, serves as a base for the ‘Around A Dinner Table’ exhibition.
The traditional Friday dinner with family is a very big part of the Israeli culture. Family members meet around the dinner table every Friday and during the holidays and for each celebration there is a unique dish. In this set up, young designers are looking for new ways to reconnect people – materials – and tradition by creating unique new objects for our dinner table.
The exhibition features 25 designers, studios and design labels dealing with a wide range of approaches, ideas, materials and technics that are connected to the basic needs of dinning, drinking and talking, manifested in the table ware they design and create.
